RDRM35/1 is a differential protection relay which incorporates a toroidal transformer that allows automatic reconnection of the installation in case the ground fault disappears.

This equipment has been specially designed for those public lighting applications where actions of the maintenance service to re-assemble the differential relays are frequent.

Besides, it also allows remote control of the insulation level and the status of the relay, as well as remote control of the reconnection of the differential relay, which makes this equipment an essential element in public lighting control and supervision system.

Features

• It integrates into a single unit a differential transformer, a relay and a meter of the earth leakage current output, in true RMS.
• Automatic self-reclosing of the line, without actuation of the maintenance service.
• If the fault persists, the relay locks itself until trying automatically again or else the next day when public lighting is switched on again. We can also send it a remote control signal for reconnection purposes
• Possibility to be connected to a street lighting control system for remote control of the reclosing sequence and supervision of the insulation level of the installation. RDRM35 series are specially designed to be used in conjunction with the TELEASTRO system.

Operating Mode

If a fault occurs, the differential relay disconnects the contactor and activates an alarm.

Then it tries to reconnect after 2 minutes and if the leak persists, the contactor disconnects itself again. The next reconnection it will try will be after 4 min and if the leak persists, it will then try again every 6 min. up to a maximum of 29. After these 31 attempts, which will be after 180 minutes, if the leak still exists, the relay locks itself leaving the contactor disconnected.

RDRM35/1 will try to reconnect after complying with one of the following conditions:

• The leak has disappeared and 15 minutes have elapsed.
• Pressing the Reset key.
• Restarting the lighting installation manually or by automatically restarting it the next day.
